BEST news everyone! (and a bit of blabbing)

I got a temporary job covering maternity leave. It is a 4- 5 month contract and I start on the first of August. I was looking for something permanent and I could do with better pay but it's better than nothing and at least I will have something better to do in the next few months. I will be able to buy my Mom a nice birthday present this year. And I can finally start paying off some of those debts that have been hanging around my neck. I am not nervous about it now but come Sunday night I will be!.

In the last few days the world has been in total chaos. How ironic that I wrote about terrorism just a few weeks ago and now Norway is dealing with such tragedy because of an individual who wanted to bring a "revolution" to his country. Then of course there is the massive train crash in China, more earthquakes in my dear Japan and the death of Amy Winehouse (Am I missing anything?). Right now I feel like I am in a fish bowl staring out at all the anarchy. Everyone here feels safe and untouchable. I feel the same to a certain degree, but I was once also in the midst of a national disaster and know that we are never completely safe. How someone could call himself a christian and then shoot dozens of children and young people is incomprehensible to me. What this man did was not from God. Of course the obvious question is why didn't God, being all- powerful that he is stop these acts that were being committed in his name. The best honest answer I can give to that is I don't know. I'm not going pipe on about "everything happens for a reason"- there was no reason for this.

So things are starting to look up on my side despite the world being a very sad place at the moment. In the last week I have been staying with a friend and have honestly had no time to either blog or read blogs. I am going back to the same friend tomorrow to start have a bit of a holiday before I join the rat race. There is no big reason for this post other than to share some good news for those who care and give my two cents on the happenings of planet earth. Hope everyone is safe and well :)

  1. Congratulations on the job! I hope it goes wonderfully for you and leads to bigger and better things.

My heart is saddened by the events of our world as well. This is what I believe. I believe agency, the freedom to choose, is the greatest gift God gave us. If He were to stop people every time they wanted to do something bad, they would be being controlled and agency would disappear. Without agency there is no growth. We would not progress without the ability to choose, and make mistakes. I do not believe God causes these things to happen. I do believe He allows them and then finds ways to make wonderful things result. So many people in the world are thinking of and praying for these people. The event has created a worldwide unity. It has caused many people to question and to work harder to make the world a better place. I'm sure there will also be many stories of survivors and how this incident caused them to reach out to their fellow man and do good. There is no way we can understand the good that can come right now. There is still so much shock and pain. Still so much confusion. But it is part of life. It is part of how we grow. I do not understand why that man did what he did. I imagine it broke God's heart to watch one of His precious children do that to His other children. But a loving parent has to allow their children to find their own way and grow. Thank you for inviting me to think about this a bit from this perspective.

  2. Sorry to answer your email here but I can't seem to find your email address and it isn't linked to your profile.

We use the King James Version of the Bible. But we also have other scripture. The book of Moses is found in the Pearl of Great Price. If you wanted to look up that link, just to check it out, you can find it on the church website (lds.org). There is a tab at the top of the page that says Menu. When you click on it many other options come up. Under study, you will see Scriptures. If you click on that it takes you to a page with a list of books of scripture on the left. There is a link for the Pearl of Great Price there. I think this link will also get you there http://lds.org/scriptures/pgp?lang=eng but I am including the instructions in case I did something wrong.

Thanks for your comments today. They were very sweet. I thought she over-reacted a bit, too. Thanks for validating that thought.

  4. @Miss Robin: Thanks! I am really nervous about whether this affect my depression in a positive or negative way. I also really want to do well and not make a fool out of myself so pray for me pleeeeeease!
Yep miss trini did overreact a little bit. I mean 30 000 children die of starvation in Africa a day but seeing people in their p.j's offends her?. I have to be honest her post actually made me WANT to go to the store in my p.j's purely to piss people like her off.
I'm on BB so I will try and check your links out later. My Dad's mother converted from being catholic to a mormon. It is very interesting to see how other churches do things. I like learning about it.

  8. CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR JOB, STEPHI!! I know that is a huge deal, and helping to pay of f your debtrs will be a very useful asset. I know that change provokes anxiety. I am dealing with that right now myself, to a huge degree, but I have faith in you, that you can manage this job. Just try to be easy on yourself, and not judge yourself too harshly. Everyone maks mistakes at a new job (I certainly have), so if you do make any mistakes, that is just normal. And if for any reason you do not like the work, just look at the fact that it is only temporary, and you do not have to be stuck in it long term. I think it is a great change for you and I am happy for you, that you have something positive happening in your life. Good luck and keep us all posted!!
